Man Accused of Murder Dies During Court Appearance James Anderson Accused of Murdering Wife In 2023

(Houston, TX) - Today, a defendant accused of murder experienced a medical emergency during a court appearance and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The incident occurred in the 208th District Court at the Criminal Justice Center in Houston.

James Anderson was charged in 2023 with murdering his wife, Victoria Anderson, in Kingwood. He was arrested by the Houston Police Department after a standoff. At the time of today’s court appearance, Anderson was out on a $300,000 bond and was in court to make a plea on the murder charge. Shortly after arriving in court, Anderson experienced a medical emergency. A bailiff for the court administered naloxone before EMS arrived. He was transported by the Houston Fire Department to Ben Taub hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:05 am. At the time of the incident, Anderson was set to agree to be sentenced to 35 years in prison as part of a plea deal.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. An autopsy will be conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
