(HOUSTON) — The Harris County District Attorney's Office, in partnership with Fallbrook Church, today announced “Clean Slate Day,” a free community event offering on-site expunctions, a job fair, and a range of community resources for eligible Harris County residents. The event will take place Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fallbrook Church, 12512 Walters Rd., Houston, TX 77014. 

Clean Slate Day will place special emphasis on young Harris County residents previously charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, a charge that continues to follow young people long after their case has been resolved. The event will also offer expunctions for a broader array of eligible low-level offenses, reflecting the District Attorney's Office's commitment to giving residents a genuine second chance. 

“For too long, draconian enforcement of our drug laws has saddled too many people, especially young people who made a mistake once and paid for it many times over, with records that follow them for the rest of their lives, putting up obstacles to employment, housing, education, and so much else they need to move forward,” said Sean Teare, Harris County District Attorney. “Clean Slate Day is about tearing down those obstacles. If you're eligible, we want to help you clear your record, not keep punishing you for something that's already behind you.” 

Free expunctions will be available for Harris County residents ages 18 to 30 with dismissed or acquitted Class A and B misdemeanor cases, including: 

• Possession of marijuana up to 4 oz. 
• Theft  
• Unlawful carrying of a weapon 
• Resisting/evading arrest 
• Criminal trespass 
• Criminal mischief 

In addition to expunctions, the event will offer occupational driver's license applications for individuals who are already employed, in partnership with Justice of the Peace Wanda Adams. Court hearings for those applications will be scheduled for a later date. A job fair and community resource tables will also be available to all attendees throughout the event, regardless of eligibility for legal services. 

Clean Slate Day is being made possible through the support of a broad coalition of partners, including Fallbrook Church, State Representative Charlene Ward Johnson (House District 139), Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Senator Molly Cook (Senate District 15), and City of Houston Health Department’s My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Houston.
